Libya and Malta Discuss Mechanisms for Developing and Facilitating Consular Services

Tripoli, March 22, 2026 (LANA) – Mahmoud Ali Al-Zarqani, Director of the Consular Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with the Maltese Ambassador to Libya, Franklin Aquilina, to discuss ways to develop consular cooperation and improve and facilitate the provision of consular services to the Libyan and Maltese communities in both countries.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and developing joint consular work mechanisms to ensure the provision of all necessary facilities to enhance and develop consular services at their respective embassies in Valletta and Tripoli.
This meeting reflects the shared commitment to supporting friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries and elevating them to broader horizons in a way that serves their mutual interests.
