Abu Salim Zoo Reopens

Tripoli – March 21, 2026 (LANA) – The Abu Salim Zoo reopened on the first day of Eid al-Fitr after being closed for nearly ten years, returning as a recreational and educational destination.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the General Services Company, Mohammed bin Ismail, Abu Salim Municipal Council Member, Engineer Hisham Faraj, the Director of the Public Relations and Media Office of the Municipal Council, Mohammed Farhat, the Director General of the Zoo, and a number of citizens and interested parties.
The Abu Salim Municipal Council explained that this step comes within the framework of the municipality's efforts to revitalize vital facilities and improve the quality of life in Tripoli. The zoo has been rehabilitated and equipped according to modern standards that prioritize animal safety and welfare.
The council noted that the park includes a carefully provided collection of animals, along with green spaces and facilities designed to receive visitors, making it a natural haven that enhances the environmental and recreational aspects of the region. It confirmed that the park received 5,575 visitors from all regions on its first day of opening.
