Discussion of Preparations for the Libyan-Egyptian Consular Affairs Committee Meeting

Tripoli - March 19, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity held a preliminary meeting yesterday, Wednesday, as part of ongoing preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Libyan-Egyptian Consular Affairs Committee, scheduled to be held in Tripoli.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that the Director of the Consular Affairs Department, Mahmoud Ali Al-Zarqani, and the Director of the Arab Affairs Department, Najib Abu Al-Qasim Al-Rayani, discussed with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Libya, Tamer Al-Hafni, the necessary technical and administrative arrangements to ensure the optimal conduct of the committee's work and to contribute to improving the level of consular services provided to citizens of both countries.
The ministry added that the meeting discussed mechanisms to enhance coordination and cooperation between the relevant authorities, and examined a number of issues of common interest, particularly those related to facilitating movement and residency procedures, and addressing the conditions of communities, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations between Libya and Egypt, and enhancing aspects of joint cooperation between them.
