Dbeibah inspects Abu Salim Zoo and announces its opening on the first day of Eid al-Fitr after its maintenance.

Tripoli, March 18, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah, along with children from the Abu Huraydah Child Care Center and their families, toured the Abu Salim Zoo following its renovation and refurbishment by the Tripoli General Services Company. The zoo had been closed for approximately 17 years since 2009.

During the tour, Dbeibah inspected the extensive renovation and development work carried out at the zoo, which covers an area of ​​nearly 45 hectares. The comprehensive civil works included the maintenance of more than 80 restrooms, the renovation of the main square with granite marble, and the rehabilitation of the water, sewage, and electricity networks. The animal enclosures and houses were also upgraded, and painting and renovation work covered more than 45,000 square meters.

The development work also included upgrading the technical systems, including the installation of more than 450 surveillance cameras, sound systems, alarm and security systems, and modern electronic gates for managing entry.

On the environmental front, extensive landscaping and planting work was carried out, including the supply of more than 9,000 trees and shrubs of approximately 70 different species, the creation of green spaces and integrated irrigation networks, as well as the development of children's play areas and recreational facilities.

The Prime Minister announced that the park will reopen on the first day of Eid al-Fitr at 2:00 PM, welcoming visitors again after years of closure, and serving as a comprehensive recreational space that brings together children and their families during the Eid celebrations.
