Al-Tamuni raises the state of alert in the Ministry of Housing to confront heavy rains

Tripoli, March 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Minister of Housing and Construction in the Government of National Unity, Essam Al-Tamouni, issued a directive today, Monday, to raise the state of alert to its highest level and intensify field preparations in anticipation of heavy rainfall in the coming hours.

In an urgent circular to the Ministry's Emergency Committee and its affiliated bodies, Al-Tamouni stressed the need to establish immediate communication channels and activate continuous coordination with the Security Directorate, the Ambulance and Emergency Services, Civil Defense, and other relevant authorities to take preventative measures and ensure a rapid response to any potential repercussions of the weather conditions.

The Minister called for assigning technical teams to monitor dilapidated buildings and ongoing projects, as well as to follow up on roads and low-lying areas that may be affected by rainwater, to ensure the safety of traffic and immediate intervention in the event of any emergency.

Al-Tamouni concluded his circular by emphasizing the necessity for all committees and relevant authorities to submit regular and immediate field reports monitoring developments around the clock, to ensure the highest levels of readiness and control of the situation, protect lives and property, and minimize potential damage.
