Water resources warn of weather fluctuations and potentially heavy rainfall in northern regions

Tripoli – March 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Water Resources of the Government of National Unity warned of expected weather fluctuations over the next two days that could cause heavy rainfall in northern regions, urging citizens to take precautions and stay away from low-lying areas and valleys.

In a warning issued Sunday evening, the Ministry explained that forecasts from the National Meteorological Center indicate that parts of the country will be affected by a low-pressure system accompanied by strong winds, leading to increased cloud cover over northern regions and a possibility of rainfall.

The northwestern regions are expected to experience a good chance of rain today, Monday, which may be heavy at times over the next two days and could be accompanied by thunderstorms. This could lead to water accumulation in low-lying areas and the potential for some local wadis to overflow.

The forecast also indicates that the low-pressure system will move eastward on Wednesday and Thursday, extending its effects to the northeastern regions with additional chances of rainfall.

The Ministry of Water Resources called on citizens to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines, especially in areas expected to be affected by the rain.
