Tripoli, March 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Minister of Education in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Qaryu, met with Mustafa Al-Manea, Head of the Executive Team for the Prime Minister's Initiatives and Strategic Projects, to discuss the latest developments in the implementation of the initiative to improve English language teaching in Libyan schools.

This meeting, held Sunday evening in Tripoli, was attended by representatives from the British Council and the Teacher Training Institute. The meeting reviewed the results of the assessment conducted on more than 2,000 English language teachers, as well as the progress of the recently launched teacher training program and expert reports on the review and development of the English language curriculum.

The attendees emphasized the need to continue implementing the Prime Minister's directives to expand the initiative horizontally, encompassing English language teachers in all education districts across Libya.

The meeting was also attended by the Assistant Director General of the British Council, the Council's Project Manager, several experts, and officials from the Ministry of Education.

The initiative to improve English language teaching falls under a national program aimed at raising the standard of English language instruction in Libyan schools.
