Desert patrols thwart attempt to smuggle migrants and fuel across the Libyan-Sudanese border

Benghazi, March 15, 2026 (LANA) – Desert patrols of the Illegal Immigration Control Agency, Southeast Branch, seized two vehicles on the Libyan-Sudanese border used in smuggling operations involving migrants and fuel.

The agency stated through its media office that the first vehicle, seized during ongoing patrols and surveillance of desert routes, was coming from Sudanese territory and carrying 22 illegal migrants. The second vehicle was heading out of Libya and carrying a quantity of gasoline.

The agency affirmed that desert patrols are continuing their security operations without interruption, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, to combat all illegal activities that threaten the country's security.
