Up to 255 illegal immigrants deported from Benghazi to the Brak al-Shati detention center

Benghazi, March 14, 2026 (LANA) – The Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency announced the deportation of 255 illegal immigrants from Benghazi to the Brak al-Shati detention center, in preparation for completing the procedures for their return to their countries of origin.

The head of the Deportation and Shelter Office at the branch stated that the deported immigrants included 144 Eritrean nationals, 29 Ethiopian nationals, and 82 Somali nationals.

He confirmed that the deportation process was carried out in cooperation and coordination with the branches in Al-Wahat, Ajdabiya, and Sirte, which are part of the Central and Southeast Region branch. This is part of the agency's ongoing efforts to regulate the status of illegal immigrants and implement deportation plans according to approved procedures.
