Dr. Mohamed Ali Al-Ghouj assumes duties as Minister of Health

Tripoli, March 14, 2026 (LANA) – In implementation of Prime Minister's Decree No. 77 of 2026 appointing Mohamed Ali Al-Ghouj as Minister of Health, the handover ceremony took place, Thursday, at the Ministry headquarters.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghouj officially assumed his duties as Minister of Health through an official committee from the Cabinet Office, after several months of managing the Ministry's affairs as Undersecretary.
Following the handover, the Minister held a meeting with the directors of departments, offices, and affiliated entities within the Ministry. The meeting addressed the steps taken within the 100-day plan to develop the health sector and reviewed the initial results achieved during the first three weeks of the plan's timeframe. The meeting focused on ensuring the continuity of implementation and performance monitoring to strengthen the healthcare system, enhance the efficiency of human resources, and improve various healthcare institutions to achieve the highest quality standards in providing medical and pharmaceutical services to citizens in both the public and private sectors.
In his address, Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghouj emphasized the importance of healthcare for Libyan citizens, stressing the need to continue implementing the 100-day plan, monitor progress, and measure performance regularly, ultimately restoring public confidence in the quality of healthcare services according to international standards.
