Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Libya and Tunisia in the areas of training and developing diplomatic personnel.

Tunis, March 12, 2026 (LANA) – A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, visiting the International Diplomatic Academy in Tunis on Thursday, discussed a draft memorandum of understanding with the Academy's Director, Riad Deraidi, and several department heads. The memorandum concerns training a number of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation employees in French language instruction, aiming to enhance the skills and development of diplomatic personnel.
The delegation, which included Abdulhakim Ghaith, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs; Mustafa Qaddara, Libyan Ambassador to Tunisia; Khaled Abukhrais, Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies; and Abdulmonem Takita, Head of the Human Resources Development Department, agreed with the Tunisian Academy to finalize the necessary procedures for signing the memorandum at a later date to be agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
The two sides also discussed areas of cooperation in diplomatic training, the exchange of training programs, and joint diplomatic studies.
On the sidelines of the visit, the delegation toured the facilities of the International Diplomatic Academy, including the library, classrooms, and training halls, as well as the available equipment and resources that contribute to supporting the training process and achieving the desired objectives.
This visit comes within the framework of the distinguished fraternal relations that unite Libya and Tunisia, and the keenness of both sides to strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of training, capacity building, and the qualification of diplomatic personnel, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity.
