Attorney General: Three suspects identified in the killing of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi

Tripoli, March 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Public Prosecutor's Office announced in a statement that the ongoing investigation into the killing of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has identified three suspects. The Public Prosecutor's Office has issued arrest warrants for them to complete the investigation.

The statement explained that the suspects ambushed the victim near his residence before scaling the wall of his home and surrounding him in the courtyard. They then opened fire on him with automatic weapons, fatally wounding him.

The Public Prosecutor's Office indicated that investigators went to the scene of the crime, where they examined the victim's body, documented the injuries, inspected the crime scene, collected evidence, and took statements from witnesses who had information about the incident and its circumstances.

The statement added that the technical support team tracked the suspects' activities and movements before and after the crime, analyzing evidence and clues gathered from examining locations related to the crime scene. This enabled them to determine where the suspects met, the time they traveled to the scene, the vehicles they used, and the route they took.

The statement indicated that the results of the technical analysis of the evidence led to the identification of three suspects in the incident. The Public Prosecution subsequently issued arrest warrants for these individuals to complete the investigation and take the necessary legal measures.
