Al-Menfi calls for the resumption of the tripartite dialogue for national reconciliation in Sirte, Benghazi, or Ghadames.

Pulbished on:

Tripoli, March 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, called for the resumption of the tripartite dialogue in one of the Libyan cities, such as Sirte, Benghazi, Ghadames, or another, with the participation of observers from national parties and the Quartet (the Arab League, the African Union, the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and ambassadors from influential countries). This would pave the way for a comprehensive political process leading to the unification of institutions and the holding of general elections.

This came in a statement he issued Thursday night, in which he welcomed all national initiatives that seek to achieve national reconciliation, unify institutions, and strengthen dialogue among Libyans, ultimately leading to elections.

Al-Menfi said in the statement, a copy of which was received by WAL, that they view positively the call put forward by an influential figure representing broad segments of the nation, Dr. Osama Hammad, regarding his call to resume the tripartite dialogue that began under the auspices of the Arab League in Cairo in March 2024. He described it as a path that strengthens national ownership, respects sovereignty and existing constitutional frameworks, and avoids the selective imposition of a fait accompli that threatens the concept of the state, its unity, and its stability.
