Exploring ways to develop municipal performance indicators within the project to support municipalities in Libya

Tripoli, February 27, 2026 (LANA) – The Director of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Performance Department, accompanied by the Director of the Institutional Development Office and the Director of the International Cooperation and Organizations Affairs Office at the Ministry, met on Thursday, with representatives from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to discuss ways to enhance the municipal work system. A regional expert specializing in developing performance indicators for municipalities and data analysis also attended the meeting.

The meeting was held within the framework of the project to support and assist municipalities in Libya, implemented by GIZ in coordination with the Ministry's International Cooperation and Organizations Affairs Office.

The meeting aimed to develop municipal work mechanisms and consolidate the principles of good governance by establishing clear and measurable performance indicators. This will contribute to raising the efficiency of institutional performance and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.

The participants also discussed mechanisms for preparing and designing specialized training programs to build the capacities of technical and administrative staff in municipalities and enhance their skills in the areas of institutional development, monitoring and performance evaluation, and data analysis, in line with best modern practices in local administration.

Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding areas of joint cooperation and intensifying technical and advisory support to contribute to achieving the ministry's strategic objectives and establishing the foundations for professional and sustainable municipal work.
