The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health discusses with the United Nations and the World Health Organization ways to support and develop the health sector.

Tripoli, February 26, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Mohamed Al-Ghouj, received Ulrika Richardson, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, and Dr. Ahmed Zouiten, WHO Representative and Head of Mission in Libya, at his office in the Ministry headquarters on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Acting Minister's Office and the Director of the Ministry's International Cooperation Department.
The meeting addressed several issues of mutual interest and reviewed the Ministry's international cooperation, particularly with UN programs and international organizations, most notably the World Health Organization, with the aim of improving the health sector in Libya.
The two sides also discussed ways to support programs for developing and training medical and paramedical personnel, enhancing the Ministry of Health's efforts to improve health and treatment services, supporting rapid response and primary healthcare services, and achieving the highest quality standards in medical and preventive services to meet health needs across all regions.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing the strategic partnership and strengthening constructive cooperation, which will positively impact the efficiency and quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.
