Tripoli, February 26, 2026 (LANA) – The newly elected mayor and members of the Tajoura Municipal Council took the legal oath on Tuesday evening at the Ministry of Local Government headquarters, before the Minister of Local Government, Abdulshafi Al-Juwaifi.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted in accordance with the regulations and legislation governing the work of municipal councils, marking the official commencement of the council's duties.

Al-Juwaifi called on the council members to fully assume their responsibilities and uphold the trust of the citizens who elected them, emphasizing that the coming period requires organized work.

Al-Juwaifi indicated that the ministry has prepared a training program for the new mayors and members, covering the legislative frameworks of local administration, defining jurisdictions, and the mechanisms of operation within municipal councils, to ensure regular performance and adherence to the relevant laws.
