Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation with international organizations to protect historical cities and sites in Libya.

Tripoli, February 24, 2026 (LANA) – The Director of the Historic Cities Management Authority, Ayman Daw, met today, Tuesday, at the Authority's headquarters with the Secretary-General of the Libyan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, Wissam Abdelkabir, and his accompanying delegation. They discussed ways to support national efforts aimed at preserving historic cities and sites, and mechanisms for registering architectural heritage on the lists of international organizations. This meeting was held within the framework of strengthening institutional cooperation in the field of protecting and preserving cultural heritage.

The discussions focused on activating the institutional partnership between the two sides and opening avenues for benefiting from the programs of international and regional organizations affiliated with the Commission, most notably UNESCO, ALECSO, and ISESCO.

This meeting comes within the context of the Historic Cities Management Authority's commitment to expanding its partnerships at both the national and international levels and strengthening its institutional presence, thereby contributing to the protection of architectural and historical heritage and consolidating the concepts of cultural sustainability.
