The Central Bank reveals the value of letters of credit and remittances in January and February

Tripoli, February 24, 2026 (LANA) – The Central Bank of Libya issued a statement on Monday detailing the disbursement of $3.6 billion in letters of credit and remittances for various purposes, including personal transfers, for the period from January 1 to February 23, 2026.
The bank indicated that it had approved approximately $1.5 billion in new letters of credit for all goods and services during February.
The bank also reported that the personal transfer system remains operational, noting that the amount held through the system has reached $381 million as of February 23.
The bank further stated that these funds will be transferred to banks next week to cover the accounts of beneficiaries through exchange companies, and that it continues to issue approvals as usual to cover commercial banks' requests for letters of credit and personal transfers.
