The Sinawen oil field in the Nalut region has been restarted after a shutdown of more than three years

Pulbished on:

Tripoli, February 22, 2026 (LANA) – The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced today the resumption of production at the Sinawen oil field in the Nalut region, after a shutdown of more than three and a half years due to financial and technical difficulties related to shipping operations via the pipeline extending to the Mellitah Industrial Complex.

In a statement, the NOC said that the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) has begun gradually restarting the field after completing the necessary maintenance and addressing operational bottlenecks, while fully adhering to safety and efficiency standards.

The NOC confirmed in its statement that this step is part of its strategic plan to increase production, enhance state resources, and support the national economy.

It noted that the Sinawen field, which was inaugurated in 2020, is a key field in the western region's oil infrastructure and contributes effectively to improving the overall performance of the country's oil sector. The NOC emphasized that the gradual resumption of pumping will contribute to raising production rates and providing additional resources to support local development projects and essential services.
