Tripoli – February 18, 2026 (LANA) – The Supreme Judicial Council condemned what it described as the storming of its headquarters in Tripoli on Wednesday morning by individuals affiliated with the Court of Cassation and acting on its instructions. The Council asserted that the incident constituted an imposition of a fait accompli and a blatant usurpation of authority.
In a statement published on its official page, the Council announced its intention to take the necessary legal measures regarding the incident, calling on the Public Prosecutor's Office to assume its responsibilities in this matter.
The Council also called on all members of the judiciary throughout Libya to rally around the Supreme Judicial Council, reject division, preserve the unity of the judicial system, and refrain from dealing with those it described as the aggressors.
The Council reiterated its commitment to the unity of the judiciary, emphasizing that it would not yield to what it termed this manipulation, according to the statement.
In a related matter, the Council extended an invitation to all members of the Supreme Judicial Council to attend a meeting, the date and location of which will be announced soon, to discuss the latest developments and take the necessary decisions regarding the incident.
