Tripoli, February 17, 2026 (LANA) – The Council for Research and Sharia Studies at the Libyan Fatwa House announced that Wednesday will be the last day of Sha'ban, and that Thursday will be the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH.

In a statement issued Tuesday evening, the Council said it had reviewed reports submitted by the courts responsible for receiving witnesses to the sighting of the new moon, as well as the report from the team tasked with observing the crescent moon using observatories and astronomical telescopes affiliated with the Fatwa House. The crescent moon was not sighted this evening.

The Council congratulated the Libyan people and the Muslim Ummah on the arrival of the blessed month, praying to God Almighty to accept their fasting and prayers, and to grant security, victory, and empowerment to all Muslims during this month.
