Benghazi, February 16, 2026 (LANA) – A British delegation visited the Jalyana Free Zone on Monday to assess its capabilities, resources, and the services it provides to support trade and investment.
The delegation included prominent figures such as Daniel Kawczynski, Chairman of the Libyan-British Development Association and a former Member of Parliament; Mark Field, a politician, former Member of Parliament, and former Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific; Tristan Binston Baird, an expert in strategic communications and public affairs; Peter Meyer, Chairman of the Middle East Society in the UK and a government affairs consultant; and Femi Pillay, a businessman and expert on British-African relations.
During the visit, the British delegation discussed with Ahmed Al-Amami, Director General of the Jalyana Free Zone, mechanisms for strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and reviewed the latest developments in the free zone.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the latest developments in the Jalyana Free Zone, including completed development projects such as infrastructure modernization and enhanced port facilities. A documentary showcasing the free zone's capabilities and the services supporting trade and investment was also screened.
