Faraj Hashem Bu Al-Khattabiya re-elected as mayor of Tobruk

Tobruk, February 16, 2026 (LANA) – The Tobruk Municipal Council announced today, Monday, the re-election of Faraj Hashim Bu Al-Khattabiya as mayor.

This came during an official session organized by the Electoral Administration Office, as part of the municipal council elections (Group Three – 2025).

The election process took place at the headquarters of the High National Elections Commission, with the full attendance of the elected members of the municipal council, and the participation of observers and local media, according to a statement issued by the municipal council. All legal and procedural regulations for conducting municipal elections were adhered to.

Ali Al-Taie, Director of the Electoral Administration Office in Tobruk, stated that the electoral process was conducted according to the approved regulations and under the supervision of the committee formed by the Commission's decision regarding the election of mayors for the nine municipalities. He emphasized that all procedures were characterized by transparency and order.

Al-Taie indicated that the election results led to the selection of Faraj Hashem Bu Al-Khattabiya as mayor for a new term, expressing his wishes for his success in his duties during the coming period, and emphasizing the commission's commitment to completing all electoral processes in accordance with legal standards and with full transparency.
