Tripoli, February 16, 2026 (LANA) – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) expressed its appreciation for the Libyan people’s steadfast aspirations for a future of peace, democracy, and prosperity.

In a message congratulating the Libyan people on the anniversary of the February 17 Revolution, the Mission stated that, fifteen years on, the Libyan people’s determination to live in dignity under unified, accountable institutions that represent the will of the people remains evident. Amidst ongoing political polarization, institutional paralysis, and economic hardship, this anniversary underscores the urgent need to overcome divisions and rebuild a shared national vision.

The Mission emphasized that recent developments highlight the importance of genuine dialogue, compromise, and responsible leadership. The continuation of the status quo poses grave risks to Libya’s cohesion and stability. It noted that it is time for all Libyan leaders to address the fundamental political challenges that have caused these crises and to commit to a political process that prioritizes national interests above all else.

In closing, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya reiterated its call for all parties to work together to achieve a stable, secure, and prosperous future for the Libyan people.
