Tripoli, February 16, 2026 (LANA) – Preparations are underway in the capital, Tripoli, and other Libyan cities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the February 17 Revolution.
The Government of National Unity announced yesterday that this year's commemoration program for the February 17 Revolution will consist of brief, symbolic national events, expected to coincide with the first night of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the government, the program includes: a drone light show, the largest of its kind in Libya, depicting national scenes and messages of unity and solidarity; a fireworks display designed to reflect pride in the unified Libyan identity; a group performance of traditional songs and muwashahat (a type of Andalusian strophic poem), evoking authentic Libyan heritage; and a symbolic segment honoring the memory of the revolution's martyrs and renewing the pledge to uphold their sacrifices.
Preparations for the celebration included raising the flags of independence in squares, streets, alleys, and shops, as well as cleaning the streets and painting the sidewalks, expressing joy on this occasion despite the country's current circumstances.
The General Services Company confirmed that, in cooperation with the municipal councils, it had begun cleaning and decorating the streets of Tripoli over the past two days in preparation for the anniversary of the February 17 Revolution.
