A British delegation visits Benghazi

Benghazi, February 16, 2026 (LANA) – A delegation from the United Kingdom visited Benghazi on Monday, where they met with Mayor Ezzeldin Al-Gharabi to discuss prospects for joint cooperation and support for development and stability in the city.

The British delegation included Daniel Kawczynski, Chairman of the Libyan British Development Association and former Member of the British House of Commons; Mark Field, politician, Member of Parliament, and former Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific; Tristan Binston-Bird, an expert in strategic communications and public affairs; Peter Meyer, Chairman of the Middle East Society UK and a government affairs advisor; and businessman and expert on British-African relations, Femi Pillay.

The Mayor of Benghazi, Ezzeldin Al-Gharabi, welcomed the British delegation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening international partnerships to support reconstruction efforts and achieve sustainable development, in line with Benghazi's recovery phase.

The delegation included Daniel Kawczynski, President of the Libyan British Development Association and a former member of the British House of Commons, and Mark.

According to a statement published by the Benghazi Municipality on its official page, the two sides discussed the stability in Benghazi, which contributed to the successful holding of municipal elections. This stability is seen as an indicator of the possibility of holding elections in Libya when a suitable security environment is established.
