“Misrata Free Zone is an important economic force for Libya,” Spanish Ambassador says.

Misrata, 16 February 2026 (Lana) The Spanish Ambassador to Libya, Javier Quintana, commended the capabilities and potential of the Misrata Free Zone, particularly its infrastructure and the operational and technical readiness of its port facilities.

This came during his visit yesterday to the Free Zone, where he was received by the port's Director General, Abdul-Mawla Abu-Luwaifa, the Director of Marketing and International Cooperation, Alaa El-Din Baba, and the Director of Investment, Wissam Abu-Luwaifa.

The Ambassador emphasized the importance of the Misrata Free Zone for investment in the Mediterranean and North Africa, highlighting its readiness, competitive advantages, and future aspirations for building strategic partnerships and attracting diverse investments.

He also expressed his country's desire to strengthen trade relations with the Misrata Free Zone to attract Spanish investors and explore investment opportunities in the zone and Libya in general.
