Approval of the results of the Tobruk Municipal Council elections

Tripoli, February 15, 2026 (LANA) – The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) today approved the final results of the Tobruk Municipal Council elections, part of the third group, following the completion of all legal procedures and the resolution of appeals submitted regarding the electoral process.

The HNEC explained that the Tobruk Municipal Council has 11 seats, distributed as follows: 7 seats for the party-list system and 4 seats for the individual candidate system. This is in accordance with the approved mechanism for organizing municipal council elections, ensuring balanced representation between the two systems. The HNEC also noted that the Al-Saqr list won in the party-list system.

The HNEC confirmed that the approval decision is effective from the date of its issuance, calling on the relevant authorities to take the necessary measures for its implementation and to publish the decision through available media outlets, in accordance with the legal frameworks governing the electoral process.

The approval of the results comes as part of the completion of the municipal council elections within the third group, paving the way for the elected councils to begin their duties in accordance with applicable legislation. This will strengthen local governance and activate the role of municipalities in providing services to citizens.
