Tripoli, February 15, 2026 (LANA) – The Government of National Unity announced that this year's commemoration of the February 17 Revolution will consist of brief, symbolic national events, expected to coincide with the first night of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement, the government explained that, in keeping with the spirit of the holy month, these events will be held as an informal, popular celebration, reflecting the commemoration's community nature. They will take place after the Isha prayer, or after the Taraweeh prayer if the occasion falls on the first night of Ramadan, allowing citizens to participate in its spiritual and patriotic atmosphere.
According to the government, the program of celebrations includes: a drone light show, the largest of its kind in Libya, depicting national scenes and messages of unity and solidarity; a fireworks display designed to reflect pride in the unified Libyan identity; a group performance of traditional songs and muwashahat (a type of Andalusian strophic poem), evoking authentic Libyan heritage; and a symbolic segment honoring the memory of the revolution's martyrs and renewing the pledge to uphold their sacrifices.
In its statement, the government called on citizens to participate in this popular event in Martyrs' Square, as an expression of unity and solidarity.
