Washington support for unifying Libyan military institutions

Tripoli, February 13, 2026 (LANA) – The Deputy Commander of the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), Lieutenant General John Brennan, and Chargé d'Affaires Jeremy Brent met yesterday in Tripoli with the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Dr. Salah al-Din al-Namroush.
According to a statement published by the U.S. Embassy on its X website, the meeting reviewed continued U.S. support for Libyan-led efforts to overcome internal divisions and unify military institutions.
During the meeting, the U.S. side affirmed the United States' commitment to assisting Libyans in their efforts to professionalize security forces and achieve lasting peace and stability.
