Al-Baour discusses with the EU ambassador strengthening bilateral cooperation and common issues

Tripoli, February 9, 2026 (LANA) – Taher Al-Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, met today, Monday, at the Ministry's headquarters in Tripoli, with Ambassador Nicola Orlando, the European Union Ambassador to Libya, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and develop bilateral relations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official page, the meeting addressed aspects of cooperation between Libya and the European Union and mechanisms for improving it to serve common interests. They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
During the meeting, Al-Baour emphasized Libya's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the European Union and supporting cooperation initiatives, particularly in the areas of training and technical assistance, to contribute to achieving stability and development.
For his part, Ambassador Orlando expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in consolidating cooperation with the European Union, affirming the EU's desire to strengthen the partnership and support relations with Libya in various fields.
The meeting was also attended by Abubakr Al-Tawil, Director of the European Department at the Ministry, and Musab Hamza, Head of the European Union Section at the Department.
