Tripoli, February 5, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba offered his condolences today to the family of the late Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and the Gaddafi tribe on the death of Saif al-Islam Muammar Gaddafi.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Dabaiba stated that the assassination of Libyan citizen Saif al-Islam Gaddafi serves as a reminder that Libyan blood, regardless of who it belongs to, remains a red line that cannot be crossed. He added that assassinations and exclusion have never led to a state or stability, but rather have deepened divisions and burdened the national memory with wounds.
The Prime Minister emphasized that submission to the judiciary and the state is the true guarantee of rights and the most genuine path to preserving life and dignity. He noted that the Libyan judiciary remains, despite all challenges, an independent national institution and a haven for justice.
He added that the Libya they are working towards is a state of law and institutions, where disputes are resolved through dialogue and adherence to the will of the people, not through violence or by reproducing the tragedies of the past.
The Prime Minister stated that Libya has experienced this approach at various stages of its history, and its consequences have been to alienate Libyans from the project of a unified state and prolong the conflict. He called for maintaining trust in state institutions and the justice system to uncover the whole truth and establish accountability, far removed from the logic of revenge or justification.
Dabaiba said that this nation is large enough for all who choose to sincerely engage in the project of a unified state under one flag, considering this a real opportunity for supporters of this movement to move from the logic of alignment to the logic of the state, based on a break with the methods of the past and full commitment to the rules of the state and its institutions.
Dabaiba condemned any attempt to infringe upon the right of the deceased's family or the Gaddafi tribe to hold mourning ceremonies, to restrict the duty of human condolence among Libyans, or to impose any security measures that violate human values and authentic Libyan social customs.
