Benghazi – February 5, 2026 (LANA) – The House of Representatives reaffirmed its full commitment to supporting the independence of the judiciary and working to develop legal legislation that contributes to expediting the pace of justice and overcoming all legal and administrative obstacles facing members of this vital sector.

This came during a meeting held by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, at his office in Qubba, with the heads of the judicial bodies in the Courts of Appeal. The meeting was part of the House leadership's commitment to continuous communication with the judiciary and strengthening institutional cooperation to solidify the foundations of justice and the rule of law.

According to the spokesperson for the House of Representatives, the Speaker was briefed during the meeting on the conditions of the judicial bodies and the challenges facing the work of the courts and public prosecution offices, particularly regarding the lack of resources and the administrative and legal difficulties that affect the performance of the judicial institution.

Blihaq indicated that Speaker Aguila Saleh emphasized during the meeting the pivotal role of the judiciary in protecting rights and freedoms, stressing that the House of Representatives will continue to fulfill its legislative role to support the judiciary and safeguard its independence, ensuring it can perform its duties free from any interference or pressure. In the same context, Blihaq conveyed the confirmation by the heads of the judicial bodies that the Constitutional Chamber's ruling is null and void and unenforceable, as it was issued by a chamber dissolved by a Constitutional Court ruling. They considered the ruling to be politically motivated, lacking any legal basis, and aimed at undermining the unity of the judiciary.

The heads of the judicial bodies also affirmed their full support and solidarity with the Supreme Judicial Council, reiterating their support for the House of Representatives as the elected legislative body. They noted that the Supreme Judicial Council is facing a suffocating siege and arbitrary practices that threaten the very existence of the judiciary and its institutions.
