Tripoli, February 3, 2026 (LANA) – The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has called on young men and women from across the country to apply to join its Youth Communication Volunteer Team, which supports the structured dialogue. The team will contribute to creating content for the youth digital platform throughout the dialogue process.

UNSMIL stated that the volunteer opportunities are open to 16 young men and women aged 18 to 35 who possess communication and creative content-making skills and have an interest in the political process.

The mission indicated that this initiative will enable Libyan youth to actively participate in the structured dialogue and ensure that their communities' priorities are conveyed to the four dialogue tracks.

The volunteers will receive support from UNSMIL through training via the “Basira” media professional development program. They will have the opportunity to share their ideas on the best ways to communicate the core issues of the dialogue. This opportunity will enhance their leadership, communication, and civic engagement skills, and contribute to an informed public debate.

The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, stated, “Young people are an important part of the structured dialogue, representing approximately 38% of the population and being the driving force for nation-building. This opportunity allows young men and women to participate more broadly in the process than those involved in the dialogue teams.”

The mission has set February 15 as the deadline for registration. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old, reside in Libya, be politically independent, be volunteer-based, have proven experience in creating social media content, including videos and written content, and be confident in their interviewing abilities.

According to the mission, applicants should ideally have a large social media following and be available to volunteer for up to ten days a month. They should also commit to actively participating in the mandatory online journalism training provided by the mission throughout the dialogue, in addition to creating youth-oriented content highlighting the main themes of the structured dialogue.

The mission aims to begin training the selected young volunteers in early March. The first team of four will attend the structured dialogue sessions to prepare the content, with group members rotating monthly.
