Benghazi, February 2, 2026 (LANA) – The workshop dedicated to discussing and reviewing the draft National Strategy for International Cooperation, which began yesterday, Sunday, continues for its second day.

This workshop is part of efforts to enhance institutional and community participation in formulating foreign cooperation policies, ensuring that international support is directed in line with national development priorities, preserves Libyan sovereignty, and achieves the optimal use of available resources.

Wael Al-Ashibi, the House of Representatives official tasked with overseeing the National Strategy for International Cooperation, explained to the Libyan News Agency that the final day of the workshop will be dedicated to drafting the final recommendations after discussion and studying possible options for implementing the strategy, whether by adopting it or proposing alternatives that take into account the country's circumstances.

Al-Ashibi pointed out that the existing division may pose challenges to adopting a comprehensive national strategy, stressing that the Council will work to organize upcoming workshops to facilitate access to international cooperation programs, in a way that serves the best interests of the Libyan state.

For his part, Youssef Al-Aqouri, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the House of Representatives, emphasized the importance of the strategy as a national framework that regulates international cooperation relations and promotes the achievement of national interests. He made these remarks during the opening of the workshop to discuss the draft national strategy for international cooperation.

Al-Aqouri explained that the multiplicity of stakeholders and differing viewpoints necessitate broadening the scope of dialogue and discussion. He noted that the committee decided to involve experts, researchers, relevant stakeholders, and representatives of civil society organizations, with the aim of developing practical recommendations for formulating a comprehensive national strategy that meets the aspirations and interests of the state.

The committee chairman indicated that all observations and proposals submitted regarding the document will be taken into consideration when discussing the adoption of the strategy within the House of Representatives. He expressed his appreciation to the participants who came from outside Benghazi.
