Tripoli, January 1, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Water Resources of the Government of National Unity urged citizens to exercise extreme caution due to forecasts of scattered rainfall, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms, which could lead to water accumulation and flash flooding in some local valleys, particularly in several areas in the north of the country, starting today, Sunday, and continuing for two days.

In a statement published on its official page, the Ministry explained, based on weather forecasts issued by the National Meteorological Center, that some areas extending from Tripoli to Misrata will experience increased cloud cover with scattered rainfall, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms.

The statement added that the chance of rainfall is higher this evening and tonight in the northeastern regions extending from Benghazi to the Green Mountain, where it is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms that could cause water accumulation in low-lying areas and flash flooding in some local valleys.

In this context, the Ministry of Water Resources urged citizens to stay away from wadis and low-lying areas, and to avoid crossing roads affected by water accumulation or flash floods, while adhering to the instructions of the relevant authorities, in order to ensure public safety.

The Ministry stressed the importance of taking necessary precautions, especially in areas near wadis, and called on everyone to follow weather forecasts and warnings issued by the relevant official bodies.
