The Turkish Foreign Minister discusses military and defense cooperation with Al-Zoubi in Ankara

Ankara, January 29, 2026 (LANA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met today in Ankara with Major General Abdul Salam Al-Zoubi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Accord, to discuss strengthening cooperation in military fields.
According to the Government of National Accord's media office, the meeting addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Libya and Turkey in the military and defense sectors. Discussions also focused on mechanisms for developing training and capacity-building programs, and strengthening coordination between relevant authorities in both countries.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense presented the Ministry's vision regarding military and security cooperation, its priorities for the coming phase, and the process of unifying and building the military institution. They also exchanged views on several regional issues of mutual interest and developments related to security and stability in the region.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination to serve the common interests of both countries, according to the government's media office.
