Benghazi, January 29, 2026 (LANA) – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, met separately on Wednesday in Benghazi with the French and British ambassadors to Libya, Thierry Vallat and Martin Reynolds, respectively.

The Speaker's Media Center reported that the meetings addressed the latest developments in Libya. Saleh briefed the ambassadors on recent parliamentary developments, most notably the confirmation of the legal and legislative framework issued by the House for holding presidential and parliamentary elections.

The meetings also discussed shared regional challenges, primarily combating illegal immigration and its repercussions on regional security. Emphasis was placed on the importance of international coordination to support Libya's efforts to secure its borders and protect its sovereignty.

According to the Media Center, Saleh stressed to the ambassadors the pivotal role of the House of Representatives as the elected legislative authority, emphasizing the need to strengthen cooperation in parliamentary, political, and economic fields.

The center noted that the two ambassadors, in turn, affirmed their countries' support for the House of Representatives-led process to reach a comprehensive political solution.
