The head of the Presidential Council meets with the German Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

Tripoli, January 28, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, met today, Wednesday, in Tripoli, with a delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany headed by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Von Geyr.
The German Minister conveyed to Al-Menfi the greetings of Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, emphasizing his country's keenness to strengthen cooperation and partnership with Libya in various fields.
For his part, the Head of the Presidential Council praised the pivotal role played by German diplomacy in supporting the Libyan process, affirming the continuation of efforts aimed at strengthening international cooperation and intensifying joint coordination to achieve comprehensive and sustainable stability throughout the country.
The German Minister of State for Foreign Affairs commended the progress made in the national reconciliation process led by the President, praising the adoption of the National Charter for Reconciliation as a pivotal step towards strengthening national unity and consolidating social peace.
The meeting, which was attended by the German Ambassador to Libya, Ralph Tarraf, addressed the latest political, economic, and security developments, in addition to discussing the issues of illegal immigration and strengthening the human rights system.
