Al-Shahoubi discusses with the executive management of Boeing mechanisms for developing and revitalizing the transportation sector in Libya

Tripoli, January 27, 2026 (LANA) – Minister of Transportation and Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, held a meeting with the executive management team of Boeing to discuss mechanisms for developing the transportation sector in the country.

The meeting was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, members of the Libyan-American Business and Investment Council, the Acting Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq, the Head of the Executive Team for Presidential Initiatives and Projects, Mustafa Al-Manaa, and a number of national experts.

The meeting addressed determining the size of the aircraft fleet and programs for qualifying and training national personnel, in addition to aspects of cooperation between the government and Boeing to support the implementation of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity's initiative to develop and revitalize the transportation sector in Libya.

The meeting also included a comprehensive survey of the Libyan market and the identification of the technical and operational requirements needed to launch the company, as well as discussions on the steps for registering and officially establishing the company.

This executive track runs parallel to the Ministry of Transportation's projects to develop airports in the country, which will contribute to improving the quality of services provided, enhancing the efficiency of the aviation sector, developing management and operational capabilities, and supporting efforts to diversify the national economy and sources of income.
