Tripoli – January 27, 2026 (LANA) – Tunisian President Kais Saied reiterated his country's position calling for a purely Libyan-led solution, stressing that the crisis in Libya remains an internal national matter that does not accept any external interference, and that the country's future must be shaped by the will of its people alone.

This came during the Tunisian president's meeting yesterday, Monday, at the Carthage Palace, with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty, who is visiting Tunisia to participate in the ministerial meeting of the tripartite mechanism of Libya's neighboring countries, held in the Tunisian capital.

During the meeting, President Kais Saied emphasized that the Libyan crisis is not an international issue, but rather a purely national one, noting that Libyans possess the competence and capabilities to formulate solutions stemming from their free will, reflecting their legitimate aspirations for stability and state-building.

The Tunisian president reiterated his country's readiness to host a comprehensive Libyan conference where Libyans can freely and responsibly choose their own path, emphasizing that the Libyan people are capable of shaping their own future and building their state on the foundations of unity, sovereignty, and stability.

In a related context, the Tunisian president received a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, conveyed by the Egyptian foreign minister, expressing his greetings and appreciation to Tunisia and its people, thus affirming the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries.

For his part, President Kais Saied stressed the strength of Tunisian-Egyptian relations and the necessity of enhancing coordination and joint cooperation to confront the growing regional challenges, in a way that serves Arab national security and strengthens stability in the region.

President Saied also reaffirmed Tunisia's unwavering support for the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their fully sovereign and independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.
