Tripoli, January 26, 2026 (LANA) – Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Expatriate Affairs, Badr Abdel-Aty, affirmed that preserving the unity and sovereignty of Libyan territory is a cornerstone of Egypt's position.
This came during the Foreign Minister's participation on Monday in the third ministerial meeting of the Neighboring Countries of Libya Mechanism, held in the Tunisian capital. Also participating were Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Expatriates, Mohamed Ali Nafti, and Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf.
According to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), Abdel-Aty stressed that Libya's security is an integral extension of Egyptian and Arab national security.
The ministers held a tripartite meeting within the framework of the mechanism, during which they discussed developments in the political and security situation in Libya and ways to enhance coordination and consultation among neighboring countries to support the Libyan political process. This aims to contribute to achieving security and stability, preserving the unity of the Libyan state, and curbing foreign interference.
A joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the meeting, affirming the neighboring countries' support for efforts aimed at reaching a Libyan-Libyan political solution and respecting Libya's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
