Tetteh and Boulos stressed the importance of Libyan political parties translating their commitments into practical measures to advance the UN mission-facilitated roadmap to end divisions and lead the country to national elections.

Tripoli, January 25, 2026 (LANA) – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Hanna Tetteh, revealed that during her meeting on Saturday with Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, they discussed economic and political developments in Libya. She also reviewed the UN's efforts to implement the political roadmap presented to the Security Council last year, as well as the ongoing structured dialogue process.

According to a statement released by the mission, both sides emphasized the importance of Libyan political parties translating their commitments into practical measures to advance the UN-facilitated roadmap aimed at ending divisions and leading the country to national elections. Boulos expressed his country's continued support for the mission's efforts.

The two sides also exchanged views on the importance of Libya undertaking crucial reforms to achieve greater economic and financial stability and build investor confidence, noting that this would contribute to greater prosperity for the Libyan people.

The meeting was also attended by Kyle Liston, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. The US Chargé d'Affaires in Libya, Jeremy Berndt; and the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs at the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury.
