Tripoli, January 21, 2026 (LANA) – The Embassy of the State of Libya in Tokyo hosted the first meeting of the Council of Arab Ambassadors for 2026 on Wednesday, with the participation of heads and representatives of Arab missions accredited to Japan.
In his opening remarks, Chargé d'Affaires Ahmed Al-Naas emphasized the paramount importance of strengthening mechanisms for coordination, consultation, and joint cooperation among Arab missions. This, he stated, would contribute to unifying positions on regional and international issues, particularly priority Arab issues.
The meeting reviewed several recent regional and international developments, especially the rapidly evolving situation in the region, and discussed ways to enhance mechanisms for joint Arab action. It also explored prospects for cooperation and coordination among the Arab Group in the coming period.
The ambassadors also discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, given the continued aggressive policies and illegal practices of the Israeli occupation government, in flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions. They reaffirmed their unwavering Arab support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
