Dabaiba calls for the formation of a team to prepare a comprehensive plan that identifies the actual fuel needs.

Tripoli, January 21, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba stressed that the fuel sector is a top priority, emphasizing the need for a clear mechanism and methodology to ensure the supply of fuel at reasonable prices and high quality, while adhering to transparency and financial discipline, and improving the efficiency of the system's management to achieve supply stability.

This came during a meeting he held today, Wednesday, at the Prime Minister's office, attended by the Head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Masoud Suleiman. The meeting was dedicated to following up on the fuel sector and discussing mechanisms for controlling and regulating supply operations.

The Prime Minister called for the formation of a joint team comprising relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan that identifies actual fuel needs and establishes the most appropriate mechanisms to secure and ensure its delivery, preventing smuggling or any violations that might affect this vital sector.

The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen oversight of the gasoline supply system and address technical and administrative challenges to ensure the continuous and regular flow of supplies in all regions and prevent any shortages that could affect citizens' needs.

For his part, the head of the Audit Bureau affirmed that the Bureau plays a pivotal oversight role in monitoring the fuel sector by reviewing procurement, contracting, and expenditure procedures. This ensures the integrity of these procedures and protects public funds. He explained that the Bureau operates within an institutional partnership with the government, based on cooperation and integration, to support reform efforts, enhance transparency, and regulate financial and administrative performance, thereby contributing to ensuring the continuity of fuel supplies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees emphasized the importance of activating joint monitoring and oversight mechanisms and establishing clear procedures to guarantee that fuel reaches its intended recipients, thereby achieving market stability and serving the public interest.

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister's Financial Advisor, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi; the Secretary-General of the Cabinet Office, Rashid Abu Ghafa; the Head of the Executive Team for Presidential Initiatives and Strategic Projects, Mustafa Al-Manea; the Director of the Inspection and Follow-up Department at the Cabinet Office, Adel Dhuwair; and representatives from relevant departments within the National Oil Corporation.
