Al-Namroush reviews with the UN mission its efforts on the security front through structured dialogue

Tripoli, January 21, 2026 (LANA) – The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met this morning at his office with the Director of Security Sector Reform and the Head of the Security Institutions Department of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL). The meeting was held within the framework of cooperation and consultation to strengthen the security and military track and achieve comprehensive stability in Libya.

The General Staff stated on its official page that the meeting reviewed the UN mission's efforts in sponsoring the "structured dialogue" on security matters, as well as international efforts supporting the unification of the military institution, and ways to coordinate national programs aimed at enhancing border security.

The General Staff quoted Lieutenant General al-Namroush as affirming during the meeting his full support for national and international efforts aimed at strengthening border security and stability, his support for the security track and dialogue initiatives under the auspices of the United Nations, and his commitment to moving forward with cooperation in unifying the military institution.
