The General Authority for Communications and Information Technology participates in the (56) meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Communications and Information in Cairo

Cairo, January 21, 2026 (LANA) – The 56th meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Communications and Information was held on Monday at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Cairo. Participants included representatives from the General Authority for Communications and Information Technology, Arab member states, and entities holding observer status with the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information, in addition to several regional groups, organizations, and partners involved in the communications and information technology sector.
The meeting discussed several important topics, including the outcomes of the committee's working group meetings, a review of the activities of entities with observer status at the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information, discussions on the Arab Strategy for Communications and Information (the Arab Digital Agenda), and a number of other agenda items related to the development of the communications and information technology sector in the Arab world.
The General Authority for Communications and Informatics considered Libya's participation in these meetings to be of strategic importance due to its impact and added value at both the national and regional levels. This participation strengthens Libya's regional presence and role, contributes to shaping Arab policies and strategies, facilitates the exchange of expertise and institutional capacity building, reduces the digital divide, and enhances regional integration. It also boosts opportunities to attract investment in the communications and information technology sector and supports the implementation of joint digital projects with economic and developmental returns. Furthermore, the outcomes and recommendations of these meetings contribute to supporting decision-makers by enabling their use in developing national legislation, policies, and plans related to the communications and information technology sector.
