Tripoli, January 20, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industries of the Government of National Unity will hold a scientific dialogue tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Al-Mahari Radisson Blu Hotel in Tripoli, to discuss a number of issues related to heritage registration, research, and ways to protect and preserve it.
According to a statement by the Minister of Tourism, Nasr Al-Din Al-Fazani, to the Libyan News Agency, the dialogue, which comes within the framework of the Ministry's interest in developing tourism and preserving tangible and intangible heritage in Libya, will address the efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industries in cooperation with a number of relevant bodies, which have yielded positive results, including highlighting the importance of Libyan cultural heritage and enhancing public awareness of its civilizational value.
Minister Al-Fazzani explained that this dialogue, which will be attended by experts, specialists, and academics in the fields of history, archaeology, and tourism promotion, will review the National Register of Architectural and Urban Heritage and the National Register of Tangible and Intangible Heritage. This will enable artisans, researchers, and other interested parties to register, preserve, and protect this heritage, recognizing it as a vital cultural and civilizational landmark for the country.
The Minister emphasized that preserving and documenting heritage is a fundamental pillar for supporting the revitalization project, contributing to the development of cultural tourism, and promoting Libyan cultural heritage regionally and internationally, thus making Libya a destination for researchers, visitors, and those interested in heritage.
