Dabaiba follows up on the work of the Price Control Committee and directs efforts to confront monopolies and manipulation.

Tripoli, January 20, 2026 (LANA) – Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabaiba of the Government of National Unity affirmed that stabilizing the prices of basic commodities is a non-negotiable government priority.

This came during a meeting he held on Tuesday to follow up on the work of the Price Control Committee and discuss measures taken to regulate markets and curb the rising prices of basic food commodities, thereby contributing to protecting citizens' purchasing power.

Dabaiba stressed the need to intensify field monitoring, enhance coordination among relevant authorities, and firmly address all forms of monopoly and price manipulation.

The meeting specifically addressed monitoring the prices of basic food commodities, particularly flour, rice, sugar, oil, milk, and various types of meat. Emphasis was placed on the importance of ensuring their availability in markets at fair prices, monitoring import and distribution activities, and taking necessary measures against any violations that threaten food security, according to the government's media office.

The meeting was attended by the head of the Internal Security Service, the head of the Prime Minister's Initiatives and Strategic Projects Executive Team, the director of the Inspection and Follow-up Department at the Prime Minister's Office, the director of the Law Enforcement Department at the Ministry of Interior, the head of the Municipal Guard, and the head of the Customs Authority. This meeting was held within the framework of joint coordination among the relevant authorities to ensure price stability and enhance consumer protection.
