Director of the European Affairs Department meets with the new Head of the EUBAM.

Tripoli, 20 January 2026 (Lana) Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abu Bakr Al-Tawil, met yesterday with the new Head of the European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM), Frederik Petersen.

During a meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters in Tripoli, Al-Twail congratulated Petersen on his appointment, where they reviewed the procedures necessary for his official accreditation as Head of Mission, particularly in light of his previous experience as Deputy Head of Mission.

Al-Twail assured Petersen of the Department's readiness to provide all possible support and overcome any obstacles, wishing him success in his new role.

They also exchanged views on prospects for future cooperation between the European Affairs Department and the Mission, with the aim of strengthening joint coordination and serving national priorities.
